About TUT’s Author… A Ray of Hope

Ray Cole was born in Kansas, raised and educated in Iowa, and has lived in six other states. He graduated summa cum laude from Iowa University, stayed on to earn a Master’s Degree, then worked three years for Travelers Insurance Company in Hartford, Connecticut.

Ray then joined Hewitt Associates, Management Consultants, as a partner. There he was an Account Manager, worked in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, and was on the firm’s executive committee. While at Hewitt Associates he served a term as President of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries.

His other employments included mowing lawns, shoveling snow, delivering newspapers, delivering paychecks, running a school supply room, wholesaling, working on freight docks, teaching college math, co-founding a successful Montessori school, weighing crops at a grain elevator, and tutoring.

All of his life Ray has sought to understand how abstract ideas are logically formed and used. He read a variety of authors before finding that Ayn Rand had introduced significant discoveries in the science of thinking. After she died, such introductions dried up. In response, Ray attempted to make such discoveries on his own. The results are recorded in The Ultimate Talent. He published it using the name The Rational Curriculums Enterprise™, the name he has reserved for the organization he envisions as a publisher of works advancing rationality in the humanities.

Ray and his beloved wife, living happily-ever-after, frequently tour Italy – usually including a viewing of Michelangelo’s David in Florence, Italy.

Also an athlete, Ray is especially dedicated to winning at handball.
